Valerie Marie Anne Fontaine
February 13, 1953 - August 1, 2026

At the age of 73, our kokum started her journey to the spirit world to be reunited with her parents and son. She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Frank and her children Kelly (Theresa), Denise (Court), and grandchildren Braidon, Clara, Camryn, her baby boy Owen, Kattieana and many more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Siblings Horton, Lillian (Guy), Brenda, Renne, and Sheila, and godchildren Sheila and Cory Henderson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins who all loved her deeply. 

She was predeceased by parents Clara and John Morrisseau, Virginie Bunn and John Bunn, Son Kieth, daughter Joanne, siblings Melvin, Faron, Rose, Germaine, nieces Squeeky, Boopshie, nephew Panzy, Special sister/cousin Duckoo 

Our kokum was a strong survivor and loving. She also had the best sense of humour. She could never miss an episode of Young and Restless. 

Pallbearers are Kelly Fontaine, Braidon Fontaine, Owen Linklater, Clara Fontaine, Camryn Linklater, Keegan Dheilly, and Cory Henderson.

Wake Services will be held in Sagkeeng First Nation starting August 4th at 6 pm. Funeral August 6th at 11 am at Christ Anglican Church. Burial at the Roman Catholic Church to follow. Traditional feast to follow at Christ Anglican Church Hall. 

We are very thankful for the doctors and nurses at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care for our kokum and our family in her final days.
