Olive Rose Fontaine
September 21, 1947 - September 9, 2026

Olive Rose Fontaine (Ramsay), born September 21, 1947, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Olive was a strong, independent, and deeply loving mother, a woman whose presence anchored her family. She faced every challenge with courage and quiet determination, and she taught her children to stand tall, work hard, and care fiercely for one another. Her strength was steady, her love unwavering, and her guidance will continue to shape her family for generations.

Olive leaves behind her children: Joyce, Morgan (Elsie), Mary (Ivan), Audrey, Charlene, Charles, and Nathan (Akacia). She is also survived by her sisters Elsie and Annie, and her brothers Jonas and Willard. She leaves behind her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, whom she adored and thought the world of. She loved them so much. She also leaves behind her nieces, Colleen and Miranda, who held a special place in her heart and remained close to her always, and her son‑in‑law, Ted.

Olive is reunited now with her father Charlie Moneyas, her mother Mary Peebles (née Ramsey), her sisters Lilian, Hilda, Mildred, Diane, and Mabel, and her brothers Len, Stan, Oscar, John, Ray, and Orton. She is also predeceased by her husband Leslie Fontaine and by her former husband and father of her children, Stewart Bird, and her daughter Linda Kulik.

Her legacy lives on in the strength of her children, the closeness of her family, and the love she poured into everyone she cared for.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Community Centre in Black River First Nation.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude for the prayers, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time.
