Crystal is survived by her children, Gabriel Bird(Cyara), Anjanette Bird(Ernest), and Aeysha Bird. Grandchildren, Wya Bird, Wrenley Bird, Larson Bird, Lawrence Bird, Gabriel Bird Jr. and Kennedy Bird. Parents, Warren and Janice Bird. Niece and Nephew who she took as children, Abigail Bird and Andrew Bird Jr. Brothers Derrick Renschler and Justin Bird. Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and the many children she cared for, all of whom she loved immensely.
Crystal began her life during the evening of March 22 1980, the firstborn of Warren and Janice Bird. Instantly the joy of her mother’s life, she was later joined by her brother Andrew, her best friend, in 1981.
She lived most of her life in her home community of Black River First Nation. She was raised close to the culture and the land, always running around outside with her brother and cousins.
Crystal loved hunting and fishing, she enjoyed being outside. She loved feeling the sun and the breeze. You could often find her outside decorating her yard or house. She also really enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays; Crystal had this way of making you feel so loved during these times. Often picking out the most thoughtful gift and ensuring everyone was fed. No expense was spared when it came to Halloween, Christmas, or Birthdays. You can guarantee the house would be decorated the best in the entire community, no matter the occasion.
Crystal had one of the most giving hearts. Her generous nature was unmatched. She would open her home to anyone in need, often taking in children placed in care. Many of whom remained in close contact with her over the years.
Her children and grandchildren were the absolute light of her life. She was and will forever be so proud of them. Much of her time was spent with them, you could often find her with one of her girls, whether it be her daughters, or granddaughters. Spa days were a regular event at Crystal’s house.
Her family will miss her immensely. They would like to thank the medical professionals at Pine Falls Health Complex, Health Sciences Centre, and Selkirk Health Complex for their efforts over the years. We would also like to thank Pine Falls EMS, Powerview RCMP, and the community of Black River for their care and support during that time. Your compassion and dedication is very much appreciated.
